With high thermal insulation, frost blankets protect your concrete from cold temperatures in the winter and limit the rate of drying in the summer.

Frost blankets are primarily designed to ensure that concrete isn’t damaged by freezing temperatures and wind during the curing process. By utilising closed-cell technology in a polythene material, high thermal insulation is provided, allowing concrete temperature, and therefore drying rate and moisture content, to be better controlled.

Extreme temperatures in the summer can also cause problems with concrete curing. High temperatures can cause concrete to dry at a faster than acceptable rate. This can lead to reduced strength and cracking.
 
Proper curing of concrete is a process that lasts for a very long time; in some cases years. However, it is the first stages of curing which are the most important.

For best results, ensure that concrete is kept above 10 degrees Celsius where possible, so that the chemical reaction between the materials and water content remains constant. Also, try to maintain the level of moisture at a constant rate during the process; rapid drying and wetting will lead to cracking due to the repetitive expansion and contraction of the pour.
